Ming-Chi Kuo: iPhone 14 has a 48MP camera, 8K video, and no more iPhone mini starting in 2022

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a comprehensive report on Apple's moves in the next few years.

The report includes the following data:

  • Next year's iPhone 14 lineup will consist of two 6.1-inch iPhones and two 6.7-inch iPhones.
  • Apple will discontinue the 5.4-inch iPhone mini starting next year.
  • There will still be an iPhone 13 mini in 2021, but it is expected to be manufactured in smaller quantities.
  • The iPhone collection in 2022 will feature two iPhones with 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens, and two iPhone Pro with the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens.
  •  IPhone Pro devices will get a new 48MP main camera, which can output 12MP photos with a large pixel area of 2.5μm.
  • Kuo expects that the iPhone 13 will retain a resolution of 12MP, but will make the pixel size 2.0μm thanks to the slight increase in the sensor size.
  • The 2022 iPhone 14 lineup is expected to provide the cornerstone for capturing 8K video.
