Google has locked in the dates for its annual developer showcase. The company announced that I/O 2026 will take place on May 19 and 20 at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. The keynote kicks off at 10 AM PT (5 PM UTC) on the first day.

What to Expect at Google I/O 2026
The conference will focus heavily on AI developments and software updates. Google confirmed that Gemini AI, Android, Chrome, and Cloud will all receive major announcements during the two-day event.
Last year's I/O centered almost entirely on artificial intelligence. Google rolled out updated Pro and Flash versions of its Gemini models alongside the Imagen 4 image generator and Veo 3 video creation tool. This year will likely follow that pattern with even more advanced AI capabilities.

Android 17 and Platform Updates
Attendees should get their first real look at Android 17, codenamed Cinnamon Bun, before the stable version drops in June. The preview will probably cover new features, UI changes, and developer tools.
Beyond mobile, Google typically uses I/O to outline plans for its broader ecosystem. Expect updates on Android XR for extended reality headsets, Wear OS for smartwatches, Android TV for streaming devices, and Google Workspace productivity tools.
All keynotes, demos, and developer sessions will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. Registration details and the full schedule should appear on Google's developer website in the coming weeks.
