HMD is bringing the Terra M rugged phone to European markets. The company first teased this enterprise-focused device in November, and now it's rolling out across select countries with full details on pricing and availability.

Built for Demanding Work Environments

The Terra M targets professionals who need reliable communication in tough conditions. HMD designed it for hospitals, construction sites, airports, security teams, and first responders. The device carries IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certifications, meaning it can handle dust, water immersion, high-pressure spray, and drops.

Hardware and Connectivity

The phone features a 2.8-inch glove-friendly touchscreen alongside large physical buttons for easy operation while wearing protective gear. A 2,510 mAh battery powers the device, and loud high-output audio ensures calls come through clearly in noisy environments.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual SIM support, and eSIM capability with hotspot mode. HMD is pitching this as more than hardware—it's a complete managed communications ecosystem for businesses.

Enterprise Software and Security

HMD promises five years of quarterly security updates for the Terra M. The device integrates with Mobile Device Management solutions from Springdel and SOTI, giving IT departments control over deployment and configuration.

Push-to-Talk services come from Zello and Mobile Tornado, offering secure group communications with programmable hardware keys and dedicated emergency buttons. For messaging, the phone supports Threema with end-to-end encryption. Other preloaded tools include Joplin for secure note-taking and OsmAnd for offline navigation.

Connectivity Plans and Partnerships

Data plans for the Terra M are available through Lyfo, which provides multi-carrier network switching to maintain coverage across borders and in remote areas. This resilient connectivity approach targets organizations operating in high-risk or disconnected environments.

HMD is offering promotional discounts for early adopters. New Joplin Cloud subscribers can get 15% off the first year with code HMDTERRAM, valid for three months. Threema Work and Threema OnPrem purchases made before April 30 qualify for 30% off.
