New Details Emerge for Honor Magic 8 Series Launch
As the official launch event in China approaches, key specifications for the upcoming Honor Magic 8 Pro Air and the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design have been confirmed. These flagship devices aim to push the boundaries of battery technology and mobile photography.
Honor Magic 8 Pro Air: Battery and Performance
The company has confirmed that the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air will feature a 5,500mAh "Qinghai Lake" battery. This high-density power cell reaches 917Wh/L, allowing for a slim 6.1mm profile and a lightweight 155g body.
The device is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. It will be available in several configurations, ranging from 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage up to a high-end 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model. For photography, it will house a 1/1.3-inch main sensor and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens.
Advanced Photography Kit for RSR Porsche Design
Honor is positioning the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design as a professional-grade photography tool. The smartphone will include a dedicated camera kit, featuring an external telephoto extender and a specialized camera grip. This setup supports a 2.35x teleconverter and achieves industry-leading CIPA 6.5-level image stabilization.
This move places Honor in direct competition with other photography-focused flagships that utilize external modular lenses. The RSR model is expected to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and will offer up to 24GB of RAM.
Color Options and Availability
The Magic 8 Pro Air will debut in Fairy Purple, Light Orange, Feather White, and Shadow Black. Meanwhile, the premium Porsche Design edition will be available in Moonstone and Slate. Both models are scheduled for an official unveiling in China on January 19.
