Honor is reportedly preparing a major shake-up in its foldable smartphone lineup. According to recent leaks, the company is developing a new, wider device that may completely replace the current Magic Vs series. This strategic shift aims to position the brand against future offerings from Samsung and Apple.

The Shift to a 4:3 Display

The upcoming handset is expected to feature a 4:3 aspect ratio, a design choice that is predicted to become the industry standard by 2026. This wider format offers a more tablet-like experience compared to current folding phones. While the standard Magic V line is scheduled for an update next month, insiders suggest the successor to the compact V Flip won't arrive before 2026.

Market Competition

Honor’s move comes as Apple and Oppo are also rumored to be exploring wider form factors for their future foldable devices. Samsung is reportedly working on a premium "Wide Fold" model as well. However, unlike its competitors who may add these as luxury tiers, Honor plans to use this new design to streamline its core foldable series, potentially offering high-end features like 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage in a more accessible package.

This new direction highlights a growing trend toward productivity-focused screens that provide more horizontal space for multitasking and media consumption.
