Honor has officially introduced its latest wearable, the Honor Watch GS 5, alongside its new flagship smartphones. Succeeding the Watch GS 3, this new model brings significant upgrades in battery efficiency, health tracking, and display performance.
The device features a 1.32-inch circular AMOLED screen capable of reaching 1,500 nits of brightness, ensuring visibility even in direct sunlight. Designed for comfort, the 44mm aluminum alloy case is remarkably thin at 9.9mm and weighs only 26g. It offers rugged protection with an IP68 rating and 5ATM water resistance, making it suitable for both daily wear and swimming.
A standout feature of the Watch GS 5 is its advanced health suite. It is the first smartwatch to support research-level sudden cardiac arrest screening. It also provides cardiovascular risk assessments, with a specialized team offering follow-up support for high-risk users. The watch monitors atrial fibrillation, sleep apnea, and irregular heart rhythms around the clock, alongside standard tracking for blood oxygen, stress, and heart rate variability (HRV).
Powering the device is a 495mAh silicon-carbon battery. Users can expect up to 23 days of usage on a single charge under standard conditions, or up to 9 days when using the Always-On Display (AOD) feature. This longevity makes it a strong contender for users who prioritize battery life.
On the technical side, the watch includes Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and five satellite positioning systems for accurate outdoor tracking. With a built-in microphone and speaker, it supports Bluetooth calling. It also comes with 4GB of internal storage and is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The Honor Watch GS 5 is currently available for pre-order in China, priced at CNY 699 (approximately $100), with sales starting on January 23.
