Future iterations of Apple's flagship smartphones are set to receive a significant display upgrade. According to supply chain reports, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will likely feature advanced LTPO+ OLED panels. These new screens promise higher energy efficiency compared to current technology.
The shift to LTPO+ technology could enable a more seamless design. Reports suggest that these panels allow Apple to integrate the Face ID infrared scanner behind the display. There are also indications that the front-facing camera could move under the screen, potentially eliminating the need for visible cutouts without sacrificing image quality.
This technological shift may reshape Apple's supplier landscape. Currently, only Samsung and LG Display are capable of producing LTPO+ OLED panels at the required scale. This could result in Chinese manufacturer BOE being limited to supplying displays for standard, non-Pro iPhone models. Additionally, the same advanced panels are expected to appear in the redesigned M6 MacBook Pro, further unifying Apple's display quality across its premium lineup.
