The upcoming iPhone Fold could feature dual layers of ultra-thin glass to create an almost invisible crease, according to new leaks from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station.
The foldable iPhone has been rumored for years, but recent reports suggest the device is finally entering production phases. One of the standout features appears to be its minimal crease design, which has plagued competitors since the first generation of foldable devices hit the market.
How Dual-Layer Glass Works
According to the leak, the iPhone Fold could use dual layers of ultra-thin glass (UTG) or ultra-foldable glass (UFG) to reduce the crease on the inner display. The display panel sits between these glass layers and does not make direct contact with the hinge mechanism.
This approach offers two key benefits. First, it improves the durability of the flexible panel by adding structural support. Second, it keeps the crease minimal even after thousands of folds. The device is also rumored to feature self-healing glass and a seamless hinge design, which would further enhance the user experience.
Previous Crease-Related Rumors
Last month, reports claimed that the iPhone Fold's inner display would feature a remarkably thin 0.15mm crease thanks to a display supplied by Samsung. The foldable is also said to adopt display technology similar to the Oppo Find N6, which has received praise for its minimal crease visibility.
