Lava has quietly added a new device to its budget smartphone lineup. The Bold 2 5G made its debut this week, though eagle-eyed observers will notice it looks very familiar. That's because this phone is essentially a rebadged Lava Blaze Amoled 2 that hit the market back in August last year.
Lava Bold 2 key specs
The Indian manufacturer kept all the internal hardware identical. You still get a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel running at FHD+ resolution with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor handles daily tasks alongside 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Photography duties fall to a 50MP Sony IMX752 main sensor.
The only meaningful change comes down to pricing. Lava priced the Bold 2 5G at INR 12,999, which works out to roughly $140. That's a INR 1,000 discount compared to what the Blaze Amoled 2 originally commanded for the same memory configuration. For budget-conscious buyers in India, every rupee counts.
Battery life shouldn't disappoint either. The 5,000mAh cell should easily power through a full day of use, and the included 33W wired charging gets you back up and running reasonably quick. Software-wise, Lava ships the Bold 2 5G with Android 15 right out of the box, skipping the outdated version headaches that plague some competitors in this segment.
The phone goes on sale starting Thursday, March 19 through Amazon India. Buyers can pick between two color options: Feather White for those who prefer lighter shades, or Midnight Black for a more understated look. Both finishes feature the same slim profile that made the original Blaze Amoled 2 easy to handle.
This rebadging strategy isn't uncommon in the budget phone world. Manufacturers often refresh existing hardware with new names and adjusted pricing to stay competitive. For consumers, it means getting proven specs at a lower cost, though it doesn't bring anything new to the table.
At INR 12,999, the Lava Bold 2 5G enters a crowded market segment. It'll face stiff competition from Xiaomi, Realme, and Samsung in the sub-INR 15,000 bracket. The AMOLED display and 5G connectivity give it some advantage over rivals still pushing LCD panels at this price point.
