The technology industry has been waiting for a successor to the 2023 OnePlus Open, but new leaks suggest those plans have been shelved. Recent reports indicate that the OnePlus Open 2, which was rumored for a mid-2025 release, has been cancelled following a series of internal shifts.
Project Details and Potential Rebranding
The device was reportedly in advanced testing stages before being axed. While the international version may not see a release, its hardware foundation is expected to persist in China as the Oppo Find N6. However, there may be regional differences, as some rumors point to a 200MP camera for the Oppo model, whereas the cancelled OnePlus unit centered on a different configuration.
Leaked Technical Specifications
Leaked details paint a picture of a high-power device. The OnePlus Open 2 was expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Its display setup allegedly included a 6.6-inch cover screen and a massive 8.12-inch internal folding display, both supporting a high 165Hz refresh rate.
For photography, the device was designed with a triple 50MP rear camera system. Selfie capabilities included a 32MP camera on the exterior and a 20MP lens on the internal screen. Powering the foldable was a 6,000 mAh battery supporting 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, all housed in a premium black faux leather chassis designed to mirror high-end competitors.
