Oppo launched the Reno15 series with a confusing naming scheme across different markets. The Indian Reno15 Pro is actually sold as the Reno15 Pro Max in some countries, while the global Reno15 Pro carries the Reno15 Pro Mini name in India. This review focuses on the larger Indian model after extensive real-world testing.

Design and Build

The Oppo Reno15 Pro features a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,600 nits peak brightness. The centered punch-hole houses a 50MP selfie camera, while an optical fingerprint scanner sits underneath. The scanner works fast and accurately, though we wish Oppo positioned it higher for easier access on this large device.

Flip the phone over and you'll see a squircle camera island housing three cameras: a 200MP primary sensor, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. Oppo calls this the "Dynamic Stellar Ring Design" with a soft halo glow effect when light hits the surface.

The camera module uses One-piece Sculpted Glass, fused with the back panel as a single piece. This prevents dust buildup and creates a seamless look. The rear panel uses 1.8mm thick glass with an AG glossy-matte hybrid finish - glossy around the cameras, matte everywhere else.

Both Sunset Gold and Cocoa Brown color options measure 7.7mm thick and weigh 205 grams. The aerospace-grade aluminum frame resists fingerprints well. We used the Sunset Gold model without a case and rarely needed to wipe smudges off the back.

The phone carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. There's also an IR blaster on top along with stereo speakers.

Display Quality

The 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel delivers 2,772 x 1,272 pixel resolution at 450 ppi. It supports HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision - all working properly in YouTube during our testing. Widevine L1 certification enables full HD streaming on supported apps.

Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen, which features Splash Touch and Glove Touch technology for use with wet hands or gloves. The local peak brightness of 3,600 nits keeps content visible even under direct sunlight.

The LTPO panel dynamically switches between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on content. Three refresh rate modes are available: Auto-select (capped at 90Hz), Standard (60Hz), and High (up to 120Hz). We recommend keeping it on High mode for the smoothest experience.

Performance and Software

Oppo equipped the Indian Reno15 Pro with MediaTek's Dimensity 8450 SoC - the same chip found in the Reno14 Pro. Our unit came with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. Android 16-based ColorOS 16 runs out of the box.

Oppo promises five years of major ColorOS updates and six years of security patches. Bloatware has improved - our unit came with just ten pre-installed third-party apps versus around twenty on previous models.

Daily performance feels smooth without noticeable stutters. Gaming sessions lasting over an hour on Call of Duty: Mobile ran well with reasonable thermals - warm but never hot.

Camera System

The quad-camera setup includes a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 selfie camera capable of 4K60 video. Around back sits a triple array: 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP5 primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom (120x digital) and OIS, plus a 50MP ultrawide.

All rear cameras capture images quickly, even in High-Res mode. However, the primary camera only shoots at full 200MP resolution in bright daylight conditions - it defaults to 50MP in low light for better quality. The telephoto lacks macro capability, which is a notable omission.

Battery Life

A large 6,500 mAh battery powers the Reno15 Pro with support for 80W wired charging and up to 50W wireless charging. The phone also supports 55W PPS and USB-PD.

In real-world testing with moderate usage including web browsing, YouTube streaming, gaming sessions over an hour each day plus voice calls - all at maximum refresh rate - we easily got through a day and a half before needing to charge.

The bundled 80W SuperVOOC charger took the phone from 0 to 31% in 15 minutes, 50% in 24 minutes, and 100% in 54 minutes - slightly slower than Oppo's advertised 51 minutes.

Verdict

The Reno15 Pro Mini offers nearly identical specs in a more compact 6.59-inch form factor if you prefer smaller phones. The Indian Reno15 Pro starts at INR 67,999 ($750/€635) for the 256GB model and INR 72,999 ($800/€680) for 512GB.

The Oppo Reno15 Pro delivers snappy performance, an excellent display, solid build quality, capable cameras, and impressive battery life. The main drawback is the year-old Dimensity 8450 processor at this price point. If you can look past that, it's a well-rounded flagship experience.
