Realme has announced extended software support for its Realme 16 Pro series in India. The company confirmed via its official X account that both the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+ will now receive four years of Android OS updates and six years of security patches.
This marks a significant upgrade from the original commitment. At launch, Realme had promised three years of Android updates and four years of security support. The extended timeline brings the Indian models closer to their European counterparts, though not quite matching them.

The Realme 16 Pro lineup launched with Android 16 out of the box. With four years of OS updates now guaranteed, these devices will remain eligible for upgrades up to Android 20. This extended support window should help users keep their phones secure and up-to-date for longer periods.
Interestingly, European customers still receive slightly better terms. The same phones in Europe get five years of Android OS updates alongside six years of security patches. This one-year difference in OS updates creates a small gap between regional variants.
The Realme 16 Pro series debuted in India last month with impressive hardware specifications. Both models feature a massive 7,000mAh battery and a 200MP primary rear camera. These specs position the devices as strong contenders in the mid-range segment.
Software support has become a key differentiator in the smartphone market. Consumers increasingly prioritize longer update commitments when making purchase decisions. Realme's move to extend support demonstrates the brand's response to this growing demand.
