vivo launched the V70 series in New Delhi, introducing the vivo V70 Elite as a new addition to its popular V Series lineup. Unlike the standard V70 which replaces last year's vivo V60, the Elite variant marks vivo's first use of this naming convention in the series. We spent time with the device and here's what stands out.
Unboxing and Design
The retail package includes a 90W power adapter, USB-C cable, SIM ejector tool, and documentation. vivo bundles a transparent protective case, though it doesn't color-match the phone like some previous V60 variants did.
The phone feels compact and comfortable for one-handed use. Our Passion Red review unit features a matte glass back that resists fingerprints well. The squircle camera island houses three lenses, an Aura Light flash, and ZEISS branding. The module uses metal construction but still causes slight wobbling on flat surfaces.

Display Quality
The 6.59" AMOLED panel delivers impressive specs: 2,750 x 1,260 resolution, 459 ppi density, and 5,000 nits local peak brightness. It supports 120Hz refresh rate with three modes in settings - Standard (60Hz), Smart adaptation, and High (120Hz). The display handles HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG content, plus Widevine L1 certification enables 1080p streaming.
Schott Xensation Core glass protects the screen, surrounded by slim bezels. A centered punch-hole houses the selfie camera without being distracting during daily use.

Biometrics and Audio
The V70 Elite introduces an embedded 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner to the V Series. This sensor supports swipe-based enrollment and works with wet fingers. vivo positioned it comfortably away from the bottom bezel, making unlocks feel natural. It's fast and accurate in our testing.

Camera System
vivo partnered with ZEISS for the rear camera tuning. The primary shooter uses a 50MP Sony LYT-700V 1/1.56" sensor with f/1.88 aperture, 84° FOV, and OIS. A 50MP telephoto camera features the Sony IMX882 1/1.95" sensor with f/2.65 aperture, OIS, and 3x optical zoom. The 8MP ultrawide (15mm, f/2.2, 115° FOV) lacks autofocus.
The front 50MP selfie camera includes auto-focus, 92° FOV, and 4K60 video recording. Video recording supports 4K60 at 1x, 2x, and 3x zoom levels. Portrait Mode offers five focal lengths: 23mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm. An India-exclusive AI Holi Portrait feature runs until March 15, 2026. AI Audio Noise Eraser promises to remove unwanted sounds from videos, though it wasn't functional on our unit.

Build and Variants
The matte aluminum frame feels solid with good button feedback. Bottom houses USB-C, SIM slot, microphone, and speaker. The top includes an IR blaster, second speaker, and another microphone.
Three color options exist: Passion Red and Sand Beige use glass backs measuring 7.59mm thick and weighing 194g. The Authentic Black variant uses glass-fiber construction, dropping weight to 187g and thickness to 7.4mm.

Ports and controls
Performance and Battery
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor pairs with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage. This addresses criticism of the V60's slower UFS 2.2 storage. Android 16-based OriginOS 6 runs the software, with vivo promising four OS upgrades and six years of quarterly security patches.
A 6,500 mAh battery powers the device with 90W charging support and multi-scenario bypass charging. Additional features include IP68/IP69 ratings, underwater photography mode, 4D Gaming Vibration, X-Axis linear motor, and NFC.
