vivo has unveiled the V70, a refined mid-range smartphone that keeps the core strengths of its predecessor while addressing user feedback on design and durability. The new model swaps the curved screen for a flat panel and introduces premium materials without sacrificing the large battery capacity that made the vivo V60 popular.
Display and Design Changes
The most noticeable difference is the display. The V70 features a flat 6.59" OLED panel with a resolution of 1,260 x 2,750 pixels, replacing the 6.77" quad-curved screen on the previous generation. This change makes the phone easier to grip and less prone to accidental touches.
Brightness has improved too. The new panel reaches 1,800 nits global peak brightness and 5,000 nits locally, up from 1,500 nits globally on the V60. It retains the 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth for smooth scrolling and accurate colors.
Build Quality and Durability
vivo has upgraded the construction materials significantly. The plastic chassis of the V60 is gone, replaced by a 6-series aluminum alloy frame that has been polished multiple times for a premium finish. Despite the metal build, the phone is actually narrower at 74.3mm compared to 77mm on the previous model. It is also thinner at 7.4mm to 7.6mm depending on the color variant, and lighter at 187g to 194g.
Durability ratings remain strong. The V70 carries IP68 and IP69 certifications for dust and water resistance, including protection against high-pressure water jets. It has passed drop tests from 1.8 meters and uses Schott Xensation Core glass for screen protection.
Biometrics and Battery
Security gets an upgrade with an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. This technology is faster and more reliable than the optical sensor it replaces, working better with wet or dirty fingers.
The battery capacity stays at 6,500mAh, utilizing vivo's semi-solid battery technology. This allows the phone to function in extreme temperatures. It can run Google Maps for 10 hours at 40°C or 8 hours at -20°C. The battery supports 90W FlashCharge wired charging. According to vivo, you can get 11 hours of PUBG gameplay or 5 hours of 4K video recording at 60fps on a single charge.
Camera Capabilities
The camera system centers around a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization. vivo has switched to the Sony LYT 700V sensor with a 1/1.56" size. It is paired with a 50MP telephoto lens and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
Video recording has improved to 4K at 60fps, up from 4K 30fps on the previous model. The portrait mode offers five focal lengths: 23mm for landscape portraits, 35mm for street photography, 50mm for classic portraits, and 85mm and 100mm for close-ups. Multiple ZEISS-style bokeh effects are available.
Performance and Software
Processing power comes from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, the same processor found in the V60. The phone comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. Connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB 2.0.
Software-wise, the V70 runs Android 16 with vivo's OriginOS 6 interface. The company promises 6 years of OS updates and security patches, an improvement over the V60 which received 4 years of OS updates.

The vivo V70 comes in four colors: Authentic Black, which is the thinnest and lightest variant, plus Canary Yellow, Alpine Gray, and Sandalwood Brown. It will launch in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Pricing details will be announced closer to the release date.
