vivo is hosting its V70 series launch event today in New Delhi, India. The company will unveil two new smartphones: the standard V70 and the V70 Elite. This marks the first time vivo has used the "Elite" branding in its V Series lineup. The event starts at 12 PM IST (6:30 AM UTC), and you can catch all the announcements in the live stream below.

First Qualcomm Chips in the V Series

vivo is switching things up with the V70 series. The standard V70 will run on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while the V70 Elite gets the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. This marks the first time vivo has put Qualcomm processors in its V Series phones. Previous V Series devices typically used MediaTek chips, so this is a notable shift in strategy.

The company has already revealed the color options for both models. Both phones come in Passion Red. The standard V70 gets an exclusive Lemon Yellow variant, while the V70 Elite offers Sand Beige and Authentic Black options.

V70 Elite Specifications

The V70 Elite brings some flagship-tier features to the mid-range segment. It has a 6.59-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 5,000 nits peak brightness. That brightness level puts it among the brightest smartphone screens available right now. The phone uses LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for faster performance.

Security comes via a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. The phone also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, meaning it can handle dust and water immersion better than most phones in this price range.

Battery and Charging

The V70 Elite packs a 6,500mAh battery that supports 90W wired charging. It also features multi-scenario bypass charging, which directs power to the phone's components while bypassing the battery during intensive tasks. This reduces heat buildup when you're gaming or recording video while plugged in.

ZEISS Camera System

Photography is a major selling point for the V70 Elite. The phone features a quad-camera setup co-developed with ZEISS. You get a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto lens, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 50MP selfie camera. This collaboration typically brings better color science and improved portrait processing compared to standard camera software.

Software Support

The V70 Elite ships with Android 16-based OriginOS 6. vivo promises four major OS version upgrades and six years of security updates. This extended support timeline matches what Samsung and Google offer on their flagship devices, which is rare for mid-range phones.

Pricing and availability details will be announced during the live event. The V70 Elite appears positioned as a premium mid-range option with several features you'd normally find on more expensive phones.
