Xiaomi has officially launched its flagship smartphones in India. The Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are now available in the Indian market, bringing the same specifications as their global variants. Both phones target different segments of premium buyers with distinct form factors and camera capabilities.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra arrives as the company's top-tier offering. It features a large 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth scrolling and responsive touch. The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, ensuring flagship performance for demanding tasks and gaming. A 6,000mAh battery powers the device, supporting 90W wired and 50W wireless charging speeds.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the Leica-branded camera system on the Ultra variant. The setup includes a 50MP 1-inch primary sensor for excellent low-light performance. The standout feature is a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilization and continuous optical zoom. A 50MP ultrawide camera and 50MP front-facing camera complete the imaging package. The phone also carries IP66 and IP65 ratings for dust and water resistance.
The compact Xiaomi 17 offers a different approach. It features a smaller 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display that reaches up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. Despite its compact size, it houses a larger 6,330mAh battery with faster 100W wired charging. The phone also uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and supports 50W wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 17 camera system includes three 50MP sensors: a primary camera, a telephoto lens, and an ultrawide unit. The front-facing camera also features 50MP resolution with autofocus. The device earns a higher IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, offering better protection than its Ultra sibling.
Sales for both models begin March 18 through Amazon and Xiaomi's official online store. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes in Black and White colors, while the Xiaomi 17 offers additional color options. Early bird offers run from March 13 to March 17, with the Ultra variant including the Xiaomi Professional Photography Kit at no extra cost.
