Xiaomi has officially introduced a specialized version of its top-tier flagship: the Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica. This edition is not just a branding exercise but a tribute to classic photography, featuring significant hardware and software enhancements designed for enthusiasts.

The premium experience begins with the unboxing. The Leica edition is priced slightly higher than the standard model, retailing for CNY 7,999 (512GB) or CNY 8,999 (1TB). Inside the box, users find the smartphone, a 100W charger, a braided USB-C cable, a custom leather case, a metal Leica lens cap, a red wrist strap, and a specialized cleaning cloth.

Exclusive Design and Hardware

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica stands out with its dual-tone aesthetic, inspired by Leica M-series cameras. The device features a leatherette finish on the bottom and a top section that mimics a camera plate, complete with the iconic Red Dot logo. It also includes a knurled frame for better grip and a Leica Camera Germany inscription.

A key hardware addition is the Control Ring. This mechanical ring around the camera module allows users to rotate it to switch specifically between focal lengths, providing a tactile feel similar to professional camera lenses.

Advanced Photographic Integration

Beyond its looks, the phone integrates deep software tuning. Two exclusive Leica themes are pre-installed. Photographers will appreciate refined shooting modes like the Leica M9, which replicates the specific colors of the legendary CCD sensor, and the Leica M3 + Monopan 50 for high-contrast black and white photography.

The core camera system is equally impressive, featuring a 200MP 1/1.4-inch sensor that powers a variable zoom range from 75mm (f/2.39) to 100mm (f/2.96). This replaces the dual-sensor setup of its predecessor to offer more fluid transitions.

Rounding out the package is a slightly larger 6.9-inch display. Despite the increase in screen size, Xiaomi has reduced the bezels and thickness, maintaining a comfortable form factor that feels similar in hand to previous models.
